Walter Bartley Gorin, 65, a retired computer engineer and systems analyst, of Dallas, TX, died
Wednesday, October 25th, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. During his career, Mr. Gorin worked for IBM, Dresser Industries, McDonnell Douglas, and Computer Associates. An avid sailor, he was also a talented jazz guitarist, born with perfect pitch, and had studied piano from the age of six.
Born October 19th, 1935 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of Mildred Emily Gorin of Riverside, CT, and the late Ernest Bartley Gorin, Jr. He was a graduate of the Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT; attended Swarthmore College, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, and Tufts University. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Robert Bartley Gorin of Kansas City, KS; and daughters: Kristine Elizabeth Gorin of Glasgow, Michelle “Shelley” Bartley Gorin Burris of Glasgow and husband Richard, and Barbara Gorin of New York City. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Bartley Gorin of Old Greenwich, CT, nieces and cousins.
