Died: Thursday, 21 Dec 2000, T. J. Samson Community Hospital, age 82.
Born: 26 Jan 1918, Glasgow, KY
Son of: Bedford and Mamie Allen Gillenwater, dec'd.
Member of First Baptist Church in Glasgow, served as Deacon and on Trustee Boards until becoming a minister and serving other churches in Barren, Metcalfe, Monroe and Cumberland Counties. Minister of Waterview, Poplar Grove, Old Blue Spring and Milltown Baptist Churches. Member of State Mission Board, past president of Liberty District Sunday School BTU Convention, past president of the Fifth Regional Congress and past president of the eastern Missionary Convention. Awarded the Doctor of Divinity Degree by Great Commission Theological Seminary in 1997. Also a well-known farmer in Barren Co, a block/rock mason, concrete finisher and carpenter. Served the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the nation under President Ronald Reagan's Secretary of Agriculture,John R. Block, as a cabinet consultant. Also served as member of the County Committee Board of the Farm Service Agency in Barren County.

Sister: Velma Maupin, Glasgow
Close Friend: Delcenia Stockton, Glasgow
Grandchildren: Mona Lightsy and Jacqueline Dowlat of Louisville and Stephen Segar of Woodbury, NJ
Great-grandchildren: Jakettcha Scott, Veronica Dowlat, Brandon Dowlat,Jasmine Segar and Marissa Segar Several nieces and nephews.
