A former Metcalfe resident was killed early last Friday morning in a gun mishap which occurred in the Knob Lick vicinity. Sheriff Bill Moore said Earl Freeman, 62, of Glasgow, died after being struck in the chest by the blast from a 12 guage shotgun which he had attempted to pull from a gun rack mouted in the cab of his truck. The vehicle was parked in the yard at the ome of his daughter, Mrs. Bobby McCandless at the time of the accident. Sherrif Moore said the gun's trigger had apparently caught on a hook of the rack when Freeman reached for it causing it to accidentally discharge.
Survivors include his wife, Madelyn; two daughters, Mrs. Inis McCandless of Knob Lick; and Mrs. Gail Gillett, Lexington; one son, Gene Freeman of Glasgow; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Butler Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Grizzle officiating. Burial was in the Hiseville Cemetery. He was a member of the Savoyard Baptist Church.
