"Mrs. Susan F Franklin died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. C. C. Howard, on North Race Street, Sunday morning at the age of eighty years of pneumonia. Surviving here are one daughter and one son, Mrs. Howard and Mr. L. G. Franklin, both of this place. She also leaves three brothers: Messrs John Saunders of South Fork, Shield Saunders of Hiseville, James Saunders of Louisville. She was the widow of the late Mr Garland Franklin, who died about twelve years ago. Mr. Franklin was born and reared at South Fork, but spent most of her married life near Coral Hill. She was a consecrated member of the Christian Church, and was as high a type of lady as could be found. Funeral services were held at the home of Dr. Howard, Sunday afternoon, by Rev. Willie Thomas, a relative of Dr. Howard, after which the remains were taken to the family burial ground near Coral Hill, where they were laid to rest beside those of her late husband."
