Died: Thursday, 27 Jan 2000, age 93.
Prominent auctioneer and real estate broker in Barren Co for over 65 years.
Born: August 3, 1906
Son of: Hayden and Matilda Dodson Elmore of the Cooktown and Etoile area of Barren Co.
Known as the auctioneer since 1935 when he would walk to Glasgow and other areas of the county to conduct an auction. He took pride in the fact that he had auctioned the same farms in Barren and surrounding counties numerous times. He also took great pride in farming, mules and the Etoile Fair. Member Grider Memorial Baptist Church and numerous local organizations.
Survivors:
Wife of 73 years, Annie Louise Chambers Elmorre
Children: Eddie Berryof Murfreesboro, TN; Wilma Guffey, John Ray Elmore and his wife Jo Brent, Charles M Elmore and his wife Diana; Pataricia Pickett and her husband Hugh Pickett Jr, all of Glasgow.
Grandchildren: Steve Berry, Carla Mills, Sherry Guffey, Vickie Guffey Lee, Rhonda Townsend, Michael Ray Elmore, Mark Elmore, Cindy Williams, Charles Michael Elmore, Beth Hinckley, Jennifer Haynes and Julie Atwell
16 great grandchildren
Brother: Zera Elmore
Several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by one sister, 2 brothers and some half-brothers and sisters.
Services: 2 pm Saturday, Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home, burial Caney Fork Cemetery.
