Graduated University of Kentucky, served with Signal Corps of the US Army in the Pacific Theater during WW II.
Married: 1946 Christine Barlow of Cave City.
Began teaching career in the Barren Co School System that same year and taught Vocational Agriculture for 39 years. Many honors bestowed for personal and professional service. Member of Salem Baptist Church - served 17 years as Sunday School Superintendent and presently as Deacon and Charman of the Board of Trustees. Past director of the Park City State Bank and present director of South Central Bank. Helped organize and served as chairman of the Jin City-County Planning Commission of Barren Co for 24 years. Had been a member of the Conservation District Board for 48 years, during which he served both as Vice Chairman and Chairman. Former president of the Kentucky Voational Agriculture Teachers Association, member Park City Lions Club for 50 years and member of Gideons International.

Sisters: Beulah Jones and husband Frank and Elizabeth Rice and husband Ed, all of Owingsville, KY
Brother: Burl of Lynchburg, OH
Several nieces and nephews.
Services: 1:30 pm Thursday, 22 February 2001, Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home, burial Cave City Cemetery.
