Ben Carter

Mr. Ben Carter died at his home at Cedar Grove, south of Glasgow, Sunday night at the age of 70 years, leaving his wife, who was Miss Kate Browning, and six children, as follows: Messrs. Winston, Claude and Frank Carter, all of the Cedar Grove country, Mr. Jim Carter of California, Mrs. William Ritter of Bon Ayr and Mrs. Clarence Basil of the Cave City country. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters, Messrs. R. A. and J. K. Carter of Gary, Ind., and Mr. L. H. Carter of Waukashaw, Wisc., Mrs. Will Ferrel of Illinois, Mrs. Jim Bowles of Slick Rock and Mrs. Nettie Matthews of Glasgow. Mr. Carter was a native of Cumberland county, but has been a resident of Barren county for 51 years. He was a member of the Baptist church, and was a splendid citizen. The interment was in the cemetery at Cedar Grove."
