Mrs. Nellie Shader BOYD - 13 Dec 1876 - 10 Mar 1917
Mrs. Nellie Shader Boyd died at the home of her husband, Mr. Albert Boyd, Saturday afternoon at one
o'clock. Several weeks ago she was taken ill with a very sore throat, and it finally developed that she had
internal goiter. For several weeks her suffering was excrutiating, and all the medical attention possible
was given her to allay the terrific suffering, and death finally relieved her ills.
As Miss Nellie Shader, daughter of the late Mr. Adolphus Shader, who was one of the best known
citizens and leading business men of the town, she was married to Mr. Albert Boyd about fifteen years
ago. She was a woman who strongly loved the home ties, and who lived for the happiness and joy of her
home and loved ones. She was a devoted mother and wife. For several years she had been an ardent
member of the Baptist church.
Besides her husband she leaves four children, all of tender years, to mourn the loss of a mother's love,
namely: Alroy, Edgar, Ella May and Bernice. Also three sisters and three brothers survive her: Mrs. J. E.
Clayton, Mrs. P. J.
Noel, Mrs. Edgar Greathouse, of Scottsville; Messrs. Tom Shader and Charlie Shader, of this place, and
Mr. Jim Shader.
"The funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon at three o'clock, by Rev. I.
D. S. Knight. The Eastern Star, of which Mrs. Boyd was associate conductress, had charge of the burial
service, which occurred in the Glasgow Cemetery."
