Member of one of the pioneer families of Barren Co; member and deacon of Salem Baptist Church and Sunday School teacher for 45 years. Longtime Jersey cattle breeder; active in state and national dairy organizations since the early 1940's. Only KY dairyman to serve as president of three state associations; American Dairy Associatin of Kentucky; Artificial Breeding Association of KY, and KY Dairy Records Association. He was also treasurer of the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association, Atlanta, GA and director of the National Drink Research Board of Chicago, IL. Member Barren County School Board for 16 years; director of the KY Jersey Cattle Club; member of the University of Kentucky Dairy Advisory Committee; member of the Weldon Memorial Library Board. Leader of the Jefferson County 4-H Club for 30 years; served as president of the Mammoth Cave Area 4-H Council and received the state Conrad Feltner Outstanding 4-H Leader Award.
