This indenture made and entered into this ninth day of March 1883, between U. M. Marshall and his wife Nancy A. Marshall of Marion County, Illinois, parties of the first part and W. C. Pickett of the county of Barren and state of Kentucky, of the second part. Witness to that for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars cash in hand paid, the parties of the first part the said U. M. Marshall and his wife Nancy A. Marshall have this day bargained, sold, ____, transferred and conveyed and by these presents doth bargain, sell, ___, transfer and convey unto the said W. C. Pickett the undivided interest of the said U. M. Marshall in the tract of land Barren county, Kentucky, on the waters of S____ Fork of Beaver Creek and known as the Thornton Settle tract of land. To have and hold unto the said W.C. Pickett his heirs and assigns forever with______ of General W___.  Nancy A. Marshall, wife of the U. M. Marshall, joins with her husband in this conveyance and waives and relinquishes her potential right of dower here in. Given under our hands the day and date first above written.

I, John W. Johnson, a Notary Public in and for the said county and state aforesaid, do hereby certify that this instrument of writing from U. M. Marshall and his wife Nancy A. Marshall was this day produced to me by the parties which was acknowledged by the said U. M. Marshall to be his act and deed, and the contents and effects of the instrument being explained to the said Nancy A. Marshall by me separately and apart from her husband, she thereupon decreed that she did freely and voluntarily execute and deliver the same to be her act and deed and consented that the same might be recorded.

               I,  J. T. Wooten , Clerk of the Barren county court , certify that the foregoing deed to W. C. Pickett was on this day filed in my office, duly certified for record.
