Act of April 19, 1908
State of Kentucky, county of Allen
On this 2nd day of November A.D. one thousand nine
hundred and Eight personally appeared before me, a Notary
Public within and for the County and State aforesaid PHEBY
A. OLIVER age 67 years, a resident of the county
of Allen State of Kentucky who, being duly sworn
according to law, makes the following declaration in
order to obtain pension under the provisions of the ACT
OF CONGRESS APPROVED APRIL 19, 1908.
That she is the widow of THOMAS J. OLIVER who was
enrolled under the name of THOMAS J. OLIVER at (blank) on
the 1st day of September 1863 as a Private in company C.
52" Regt. Ky. Mtd. Inf. and honorably discharged
January 17, 1865 having served ninety days or more during
the late war of the rebellion. That the soldier was not
in the Military or Naval Service of the United States
except as stated above.
The she was married under the name of PHEBY A OLIVER
to said soldier at her fathers, Allen Co. KY on the
9" day of January 1856 by ISAAC McMURRY, that the
was no legal barrier to the marriage, that she had not
been previously married, that the soldier had not been
previously married.
That the said soldier died 6/18/1908 at his home,
Allen Co. Ky, that she was not divorced from him; that
she has not remarried since his death.

This is to certify that on the 9 day of January 1856, the
rites of marriage (burnt) Legally Sal??ized by me between
Th(burnt) J. OLIVER and PHEBY A OLIVER at T.A. MEREDITHs
in the county of Allen in the presence of JOHN LANDERS,
W. HINTON and JESSIE WEAVER. Isaac McMurray,
I W.H. Justice Clerk Allen County Court certify that I am
custodian of the marriage records of this county and that
the foregoing marriage record between THOMAS J. OLIVER
and PHEBY A. OLIVER, is a true copy of said record as
remains of record in my said office. Given under my hand
and seat office Nov 16" 1908"

4) On this 26th day of November, A.D. one thousand eight
hundred and seventy nine personally appreared before me,
Clerk of the Allen County Court, a court of record within
and for the County and State aforesaid, THOMAS J. OLIVER
aged 51 years, a resident of the Vicinity of Gainsville
county of Allen, State of Kentucky, who being duly sworn
according to law, declares that he is the identical
THOMAS J. OLIVER who was enrolled on the 1st day of
September 1863, in Company C of the 52d Regiment of Ky
Mtd, Inf Vol commanded by Captain JOHN M. BILLINGSBLY and
was honorably Discharged at Bowling Green Ky on the 17th
day of January 1865; that his personal description is as
follows: Age 34 years; height 5 feet 7 inches; complexion
fair; hair, fair; eyes, blue. That while a member of the
organization aforesaid, in the service and in the line of
his duty at near Scottsville, in the State of Kentucky on
or about the 1st day of January 1864, he contracted and
had a severe attack of measles which totally disabled him
from duty for about 6 weeks and severely affected his
back and kidneys and left him with a disease in his back
and kidneys which has continued ever since and has ever
since seriously disabled him from doing manual labor...
