HARRISON or HARRISSON, Richard & Rachel North Carolina W 2934

Allen County, Ky. 10 June 1833. RICHARD HARRISON, aged 69, deposes: First tour of duty as substitute for ISAAC ROBERTSON and served under Capt. GEORGE SMITH in Lincoln County, NC. In 1781 when in my 16 0r 17 year served another term for said ROBERTSON as an Indian Spy in the Mounted Cavalry under Capt. JOSEPH McDONNELL. Next tour I volunteered and served under SAMUEL KILLIAM as a spy.

Was born in 1764 in the State of Maryland. Was brought by ROBERTSON to Lincoln County, NC and raised by him. I married in said county and moved to Ky.

I was raised an orphan without education. Cites WILLIAM TRAVELSTEAD, WILLIAM MAYHUE, MICAL CLINE, JOHN CLINE, JONATHAN BANKS, and JOHN TRAVELSTREET as neighborhood witnesses.

EDMUND WAGONER, clergyman, and JOSEPH ANTHONY testify to his age and character for veracity.

Allen County, 20 March 1840. Mrs. RACHEL HARRISON, aged 75, deposes that she is the widow of RICHARD HARRISON, that she married him 14 Feb. 1786 and that he died 6 May 1838.

25 March 1840. WILLIAM TRAVELSTED testifies he was well acquainted with RICHARD and RACHEL HARRISON in Lincoln County, NC, that they were married sometime in 1789 he thinks in Feb. That he has known them ever since, that he left NC for Ky. about 10 or 12 years before HARRISON and his wife followed and that they lived as neighbors ever since until said RICHARD HARRISON died and his widow RACHAEL HARRISON still lives as neighbor.

THOMAS COLLERT, W.T. ANTHONY, THOMAS KENNEDY, ALLEN D. BERRY, MICHAEL CLINE, and Wm. ALSHUE testify 25 March 1840 to long acquaintance with RICHARD and RACHEL HARRISON during which period they lived as man and wife.

Allen County, Ky. 18 Jan. 1844. RACHEL HARRISON, aged 80, deposes before ANDREW HARRISON, J.P. that she was married to RICHARD HARRISON on 14 Feb. 1786 in Lincoln County, NC and then that so far as she knows no record of the marriage exists, but she submits and old Psalm Book in which is recorded the birth of their children and she believes it originally contained a records of the marriage but one lid and many leaves are missing.

18 Jan. 1844, MICHAEL CLINE deposes that when he was bout 14 his father MARTIN CLINE, moved from Pa. to NC and settled in the immediate neighborhood of RICHARD and RACHEL HARRISON in Lincoln County in1792 or 1793. That RICHARD HARRISON and RACHEL HARRISON were then living together as man and wife and had two children or three children.

Franklin County, Tenn. 19 Sept. 1832. THOMAS HARRISON deposes that RICHARD HARRISON seved in the Revolutionary War.

Roll at $20 per year to begin 4 March 1831. Certificate of pension issued 24 Sept. 1833. Kentucky 8362. Rachel Harrison, widow of Richard Harrison, inscribed on Ky. Roll at $20 per year to begin 6 May 1838. Certificate of pension issued 2 May 1844.
