GIBSON, John Virginia S 31060

Allen County, Ky. 8 April 1833, in open court, JOHN GIBSON deposes: aged 72. Was born in Fairfax County, Va. 6 Aug. 1760. Enlisted in 1777 in Fairfax County under Captain DENNIS RAMSEY and served 3 months. Then enlisted in regular service under Col. ALLISON for 18 months. Served 2 months in Alexandria, then the affiants mother, a widow having no person to take care of or protect her, and her farm and stock prevailed with Col. ALLISON to discharge applicant upon furnishing a proper substitute whereupon RICHARD SANFORD was accepted and served instead of the applicant.

Jan. or Feb. 1781 enlisted under Capt. LITTLE and served 3 months. He was in no general battles.

He resided in Fairfax County, Va. until he removed to Ky.

ELISHA WARDEN testifies he served in Capt. THOMAS POLLARD's company, Col. RUNNEY's Regt. and that the particulars concerning that tour of 3 months as set forth by JOHN GIBSON are correct.

BENJAMIN BAILEY and JESSE HICKMAN, clergyman, WILLIAM STRAIT and BIRD BURTON testify to being well acquainted with JOHN GIBSON and also with ELISHA WARDEN and believe them to be men of truth. Sworn before ROBERT McCLEARY, J.P.

Covering Jacket: Kentucky --------------13936 John Gibson, Allen County, Private Company of Capt. Ramsey, regiment of Col. Allison. Va. line for 8 months. Inscribed on Ky. Roll at $26.66 per year to begin March 4, 1831. Certificate of pension issued 1 July 1833.
