Allen County, Kentucky. 22 August, 1832 in open court, JOHN BROOKS a preacher of the Gospel aged 77 deposes: That he entered the service about 1780 for 6 months being drafted in a company commanded by Captain ROBERT ADAMS. He resided in Bedford Couny, Virginia when he was drafted. Was drafted again for 6 months and served under Capt. Wm. JONES.

PEYTON WELSH, a clergyman, and JOHNSON J. COCKERILE testify to their belief in the service of said JOHN BROOKS.

Covering Jacket: John Brooks, Allen County, Ky. Pvt. in the company of Captain Adams, regiment of Col. Lynch in the Va. Line for 1 year. Inscribed on Ky. Roll at $40 per year to begin 4 March 1831. Certificate of pension issued 29 May 1833.
