Indenture
of Apprenticeship
The
Commonwealth of Kentucky
This Indenture made this _28th_ day of ___September_
one thousand eight hundred and ___ninety-nine__ between __VERNON CLINE__________
by R.B. Justice, Clerk of the county court of Allen County, in the State of
Kentucky, of one part, and ____LEE CLINE_of the
other part;
Whereas, by an act of the General Assembly, the Judge of said
Court is empowered to bind out orphans and poor children, whoch
parents are incapable of bringing them up in moral courses,
therefore the Court made the following order, to-wit:
JANE CLINE, mother of VERNON
CLINE and orphan age 10 years; male
having filed her petition asking said orphan be apprenticed to LEE CLINE and
she having also personally appird in open court and
consented to said apprenticeship & it appearing to the court that said
Mother is of bad moral character &
will not bring said child up in mordity & it is hereby ordered that said infant be
apprenticed to LEE CLINE. See Order Book

Now, therefore, this
Indenture Witnesseth, that the said R.B.
Justice, clerk of said Court, as above recited, hath put, place and bound, and
by these presents, doth put, place and bind the said ___Vernon Cline__
apprentice to and under the said __Lee Cline___ with _him_ to
dwell, and _him_ to serve, in the condition, duty, and character of an
apprentice, until the said __James Ray Kinchlow___
shall arrive at the age of ___21___ years, fully to be completed and
ended--- that, during all the said period, the said ___Vernon Cline____shall
faithfully serve the said __Lee Cline__ master, in all lawful business,
according to the best of _his__ wit and ability, and in all things
honestly, orderly and obediently demean and behave __himself__; and the
said ___Lee Cline___ doth for __his__
heirs, executors, and administrators, covenant and agree with the said ___Vernon
Cline__ that he, the said __Lee Cline___ will teach the said __Vernon
Cline__ the trade, art, and business of __Farming_ and will find,
provide for, and allow to the said ___Vernon Cline_ sufficient diet, wearing apparel, washing,
lodging, proper medical attention, and all other things usually allowed to
apprentices by good and just masters, and will treat _him_ with humanity --- that he the said __Lee Cline_will __also teach the said apprentice to read
& write the , or will pay to him at the end of said term $100.
In witness whereof, the said _Vernon Cline__ by the said R.B. Justice,
Clerk as aforesaid, and the said __Lee Cline__ hever
hereunto set their hands and seals, on the day and year first above written
