Indenture
of Apprenticeship
The
Commonwealth of Kentucky
This Indenture made this _29_ day of __April_ one
thousand nine hundred and ___eleven__ between __MARY F. MEADOR__________
by W.H. Justice, Clerk of the county court of Allen County, in the State of
Kentucky, of one part, and ____W.F. DALTON__of the
other part;
Whereas, by an act of the General Assembly, the Judge of said
Court is empowered to bind out orphans and poor children, whoch
parents are incapable of bringing them up in moral courses,
therefore the Court made the following order, to-wit:
This day came into open
court Mrs. LETHIE C. MEADOR, mother of MARY
F. MEADOR 13 years of age, and she being destitute of the necessaries resources
to support, the said child and it appears to the court that the said MARY F.
MEADOR can be apprenticed to W.F. DALTON and the said mother having consented
in open court for said child to be apprenticed as above it is hereby ordered
that said articles of entered into by the clerk of this court for said child.
Now, therefore, this
Indenture Witnesseth, that the said W.H.
Justice, clerk of said Court, as above recited, hath put, place and bound, and
by these presents, doth put, place and bind the said __Mary F. Meador__
apprentice to and under the said __W.F. Dalton___ with _him_ to
dwell, and _him_ to serve, in the condition, duty, and character of an
apprentice, until the said __Mary F. Meador___ shall arrive at the age
of ___Eighteen___ years, fully to be completed and ended--- that, during
all the said period, the said ___Mary F. Meador____shall
faithfully serve the said __W.F. Dalton__ master, in all lawful
business, according to the best of _her__ wit and ability, and in all
things honestly, orderly and obediently demeand and
behave __herself__; and the said ___W.F. Dalton___ doth for __his__ heirs, executors, and
administrators, covenant and agree with the said ___Mary F. Meador__
that he, the said __W.F. Dalton___ will teach the said _Mary F. Meador__
the trade, art, and business of __farming_ and will find, provide for,
and allow to the said ___Mary F. Meador_
sufficient diet, wearing apparel, washing, lodging, proper medical
attention, and all other things usually allowed to apprentices by good and just
masters, and will treat _her_
with humanity --- that she the said __W.F. Dalton_will __teach the said Mary F. Meador to read
and write.
In witness whereof, the said _Mary F. Meador__ by the said W.H. Justice,
Clerk as aforesaid, and the said __W.F. Dalton__ have hereunto set their hands and
seals, on the day and year first above written
