BREWER, Ausby Garnett Ausby Garnett Brewer, age 84, of Middletown, passed 
away Thursday morning at the Glen Meadows Retirement Center. He was born 
in Wolfe County, KY, the son of Dillard and Nan (Spencer) Brewer. He worked 
for over 40 years at Armco Steel, in the Coke Plant and Blast Furnace. Mr. 
Brewer was a proud veteran of the Army Air Corps, having flown 50 missions 
as a Tail Gunner in the B-24 during World War II. He was a longtime member 
of the University Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughter, Penny 
(George) Begley of Richmond, KY; a granddaughter, Misty Dawn Whitaker of 
Baltimore, MD; 4 sisters and 2 brothers; an aunt, Evelyn Adams; and many 
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda in 1999; 
and his son, Ausby G. Brewer Jr., in 1978. Funeral services will be held 
at 2:00 PM Monday, November 5, at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral 
Home, officiated by Pastor Charles Deglow. Friends may call from 12 noon 
till service time. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery, with military 
services at the grave by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
