Obituary: Collier, Courtney - April 24, 1978 Wolfe County News - May 5, 1978 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** NATIVE OF WOLFE DIES IN LETCHER Courtney Collier, son of Frances Victoria Parsons Collier and Ora J. Collier, was born Oct. 20, 1901, and passed from this life at his residence at Isom, Ky., April 24, 1978. He was a retired railroad man, having worked for the L&N Railroad for 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Rosa Alexander Collier of Isom, and 10 children, Fern Banks, Baltimore, Md., Faye Honchul, Middletown, Ohio; Hester Caudill of South Carolina; Thelma King, Middletown, Ohio; Wanda Howard of Mississippi, Maurleen Collins, of Isom; James Leslie Collier and Ora Wendell Collier both of Ohio; Courtney Collier, Jr., of Atlas, Okla., Phyllis DeAnglo, Atlanta, Ga., and grandchildren whom he raised. Courtney Collier III, Van and Colleen Collier of Isom, and 27 other grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters, Roxie Netherly, Stanton, Lillian Carroll, Irvine, Hazel Both (Booth), Campton, Lorena Hanks, Covington, and Lura Bowell, El Paso, Texas; and two brothers, Austin Collier and Lester Collier of Pine Ridge. Funeral services were conducted at the Pentecostal Church, Isom, Ky. on April 27 at 11 a.m. Ministers were Rev. Park Sayler, Millard Scott and Conrad Profitt.
