Obituary: Brewer, Millie Center Elkins - Friday, November 26, 1976 Wolfe County News - December 1976 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** Dies Nov. 26 Mrs. Millie Elkins Brewer, 89, Route 1 Campton, an honor graduate of the Old Kentucky Wesylan Academy, and former teacher in the Wolfe County School system, died at 420 Homestead Nursing Center, Lexington. She was a native Wolfe County, a daughter of the late Judge G.T. and Nancy Rose Center. On Dec. 18, 1907, she married the late Sam J. Elkins, a former cashier of the Farmers and Traders Bank of Campton, and later a realtor and banker of Nixon, Texas. To this union was born one son, Albert Center Elkins. On Feb. 24, 1932 she was married to Dudley Brewer. A devout Christian she was an active member of the Campton Methodist Church since 1905. Survivors include her husband, Dudley Brewer of Route 1 Campton; one son Albert C. Elkins of Lexington; one sister, Mrs. Sanford Bee Rose of Campton; one niece, Mrs. Woodrow Jasper of Nicholasville, KY.; four grandchildren, Mrs. Samuel Hicks of Lexington, Jerry Elkins of Colorado Springs, Colo., Bernice Day of Lexington, Mrs. Mike Gibson of Winchester; and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29 at the Campton Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Cain officiating. Burial was in the Rose-Center-Wells Cemetery at Route 1 Campton with Shackelford Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers were Ronnie Jasper, Billy Jasper, Leo Mitchell, Bernice Day, Mike Gibson, Pryce Tutt. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Rose, Omer Catron, James Swope, Earl Pence, Steve Rose, Hendrix Allen, Arthur Kash, Dr. Paul F. Maddox, Dr. Rex Center, Orville Center, Edgar Hollon, Orville Boothe and Samuel M.
