Obituary: Bates, Bill E. - Thursday, February 27, 1975 Wolfe County News - March 7, 1975 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** BILL BATES, 72 DIES MARCH 27 Bill E. Bates, 72, of Belknap died suddenly Thursday, Feb. 27 at the home of his brother, Osa Bates, following a heart attack. Mr. Bates was a Native of Wolfe County, a retired farmer and a member of the Belknap Community Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Maggie Banks Bates. Survivors are three brothers, Osa Banks of Belknap, James Bates of Middletown, Ohio and Estille of Belknap; two sisters, Mae Flinchum of Lee City and Beatrice Stidham of Grassy Creek, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted, Sunday, March 2 at the Belknap Community Church with Rev. Junior Oldfield officiating. Burial was in the Miller Cemetery at Burkhart with Porter and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
