Obituary: Banks, John R. - Friday, February 8, 1977 Wolfe County News - March 4, 1977 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** RITES SAID FOR JOHN R. BANKS John R. Banks, 35, son of Bradley and Fannie Hensley Banks, was found dead in his apartment in Winchester, Friday, Feb. 8. He had apparently died from gas fumes from a heater in his room. He had been dead for approximately two days when found. He was a native of Wolfe County, an employee of the Liggett and Platt Mfg., Co., of Winchester, and a veteran of the Vietnam War. Other survivors besides his parents include four brothers, Ralph and Jerry Banks, both of Campton, Kenneth Banks of Winchester, and Joe Banks of Elkhart, Indiana; three sisters, Mrs. Issabelle Banks, and Mrs. Pearl Gibson, both of Campton, and Mrs. Mazie Boys (Boyd) of Winchester, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the Porter and Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Doyle Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Vest Cemetery in Breathitt County.
