Obituary: Bailey, Henry Howard - January 13, 1963 Wolfe County News - Jan. 16, 1963 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** BULLET WOUND IS FATAL TO WOLFE CITIZEN Henry Howard Bailey, 81, of Hazel Green, was dead on arrival at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital, the victim of a bullet wound. Wolfe County Coroner Lewis Porter said he had not ruled in the case. Members of the victim's family told the coroner that Bailey suffered the fatal wound at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lonnie Beasley in Hazel Green. They told Porter that Bailey went into bedroom at the home, pulled a 38-calibre pistol from a dresser drawer and apparently dropped it and it discharged. Coroner Porter said the bullet entered under Bailey's chin and came out his forehead near the hairline. The family heard the shot and found Bailey on the floor of the bedroom, the coroner said. A native of Owsley County, Bailey was a retired farmer and a member of the United Baptist Church. Survivors are five other daughters, Mrs. Callie Buchanan and Mrs. Lorris Stamper, both of Hazel Green, Mrs. Goldie Chambers, Campton, Rt. No. 1, Mrs. Lola Brooks, Trent, and Mrs. Noka Halsey, Pomeroy; a son, Frank Bailey, Maytown four brothers, John Bailey, Lee City, Pres Bailey, Adele, Elvert Bailey, McRoberts and R.L. Bailey, Middletown, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Finnie Dunn, Lee City, a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services at one p.m. Tuesday at the Sandfield Methodist Church by Rev. Bass Morris.
