Obits: Evans, Rush, died Jan. 1948 Oct. 2002 Wolfe County, KY Submitted by: http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00001.html#0000062 Wolfe County Genealogy and Carole Bays ********************************************************************** WOLFE COUNTY NEWS, Jan. 18, 1948 HEART ATTACK FATAL TO RUSH EVANS, 57 CAMPTON BANKER Rush Evans, former cashier of the Farmers and Traders Bank of Campton and widely known business man of east Kentucky, died suddenly of a heart attack at the his home in Campton Tuesday evening. Funeral services are to be held at 2:00 p.m. in Campton. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Evans had been active in veterans affairs for many years and had served for a number of years as commander of the American Legion Post. No. 179, in Wolfe County. He was a member of the Masonic Order. He retired as cashier of the Campton bank about five years ago due to ill health. During the years he served as cashier of the bank he gained note for single handedly foiling an attempted robbery of the bank. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Evans: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Evans and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Athey, all of Campton.
