S.D. COX Mrs. S.D. Cox died November 15, at her home at Quillen's Chapel, near Campton, of a heart attack at the age of 52 years. She was the daughter of Mr. C. H. Gosney and Melissa Tutt Gosney. She was married to S.D. Cox, May 25, 1910. She is survived by her husband, S.D. Cox, five daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson, Pine Ridge; Mrs. Sadie Manning and Mrs. Lorena Hollon both of Campton; Mrs. Mazie Reed, Cushing, Oklahoma, and a daughter, Wilma Cox at home. Four sons also survive her: C.B. Cox, Alexandria, KY, Edwin, S. D., Jr., and Sherman Kendall Cox all of Campton and seventeen grandchildren. Three sisters: Mrs. Pearl Warder, Calif; Mrs. Sarah Wright, Tenn.: and Mrs Maymee Lallathia, Washington. Five brothers: Jim and Charlie Gosney, Okla: Sullivan and Ben Gosney, Calif, and Woodford Gosney, Newport, Ky. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Ramah Johnson of Pine Ridge and Rev. John Frank Powell of Slade, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 17 in the Baptist Church, Campton, Ky. Music was furnished by the Church of God choir form Zoe, KY, accompanied by the piano by Mrs. Cecil Rose. Internment followed in the Evans cemetery, Campton. Mrs. Cox was a a constituted ET (typo's I suspect) Mrs. Eox was a Consecrated Christian and had been a loyal correspondent for the Wolfe County News since its beginning. She will be greatly missed in this community. (note: Mazie Cox Reed was the first editor of the Wolfe County News, when it began in the fall of 1944.
