November 23, 1945 Oct. 2002 Wolfe County, KY Submitted by: http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00001.html#0000062 Wolfe County Genealogy and Carole Bayes ************************************************************************ FORMER WOLFE GIRL DIES IN OHIO Bertie Louise Baker, who was born in Campton and lived here until a few years ago, died in North Bend, Ohio, Friday, November 23, at the home of her sister, Mrs. William Stumpps. Miss Baker, who had been in ill health for the past few years, suffered a paraletic stroke a few months ago. Bertie who was a daughter of Andy and Lula Steel Baker, was born on April 6, 1917. After graduating from Campton High school in 1937, and attending Campbellsville College in Campbellville, she taught school in Wolfe County for several years and in Ohio one year. Bertie was saved at an early age and became a member of the Campton Baptist Church and remained a member until her death. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Monday afternoon with Rev. Earl Morris, former pastor, in charge. Internment was in the Steel cemetery near Campton. Survivors include the sister, Mrs. Lillie Mae Stumpps, a twin brother, Berlin Baker of Addison, Ohio; three other brothers, Ed Baker of Middletown, John Baker, of Addison, Ohio, and Darley Baker, an aunt, Mrs. Emma Buchanan, with whom Bertie made her home most of her life, and a host of other relatives and friends. Her parents and two brothers Charlie and Lonnie, preceded her in death.
