Oct. 14, 1945 Oct. 2002 Wolfe County, KY Submitted by: http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00001.html#0000062 Wolfe County Genealogy and Carole Bayes ************************************************************************ VERNON BAYS DIES FRIDAY AT PARENTS' HOME IN JACKSON Funeral Services were held Sunday afternoon, Oct. 14, for Vernon Ray Bays, 33 (should be 30) who died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kearney Bays, in Jackson last Friday morning following an illness of more than a year. Mr. Bays was brought to Jackson a week prior to his death from Zephyr Hill Santorium, West Asheville, N.C. where he had been a patient for the preceding three months. He had been forced to resign from a position in Dayton last May, because of ill health. He was a graduate of Jackson High School and was a student for two years at Lees Junior College. He was a member of the Moose faternal organization. Graveside services were conducted by Rev. D. Chester Sparks, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, at the Joe Lovely cemetery near Guage, at 1:00 p.m. Ray and Blake were in charge of the arrangements. Surviving in addition to his parents, are his wife, Mrs. Thelma Allen Bays of Mary, and a four-year-old daughter, Anna Carol; and one sister, Mrs. Maycel Bays of Jackson. Mr. Bays was well known and widely related in Breathitt county and had many friends in Wolfe County where he and his family resided for sometime.
