Obituary: Fugate, Opal (Burton) - Monday, October 26, 2009 Published in The Middletown Journal Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** FUGATE, Opal age 87, of Middletown, Ohio, went to be with her Lord on Monday afternoon, October 26, 2009 at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties. She was born December 5, 1921 in Breathitt County, Kentucky and lived in Middletown since 1956. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her home, gardening, and flowers. She was a charter member of the First Church of God, Monroe, Ohio. Opal had been a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years, and was active in all phases of the church activities. The family sends special thanks and appreciation to all her doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Atrium Medical Center and Hospice of Dayton (Butler and Warren Counties Branch). Preceding her in death were her parents, Green and Martha Burton; her husband, Herman Fugate in 2005; one son, Paul Fugate in 2004; and six sisters and one brother. She is survived by one son, Leonard Fugate, wife Jill of Middletown, Ohio; one daughter, Juanita Montgomery, husband Rod of Middletown, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Fugate of Pine Ridge, Kentucky; two grandsons, Trevor Montgomery, wife Machele, and Kevin Montgomery, wife Amy; four great grandchildren, Kyle, Katlin, Maggie and Sallie; one brother, Ishmael Burton, wife Lorene of Gilmore, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Imogene Burton of Campton, Kentucky; many nieces, nephews, wonderful friends and her church family. Visitation will be Saturday, October 31, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the First Church of God, 100 East Ave., Monroe, Ohio, followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry Ball and Reverend Billy Ball officiating. Interment will be in Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton, Ohio. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Church of God, 100 East Ave., Monroe, Ohio 45050 or to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
