Obituary: Cecil, Albert Boyd "Pop" - Saturday, May 24, 2008 Lexington Herald-Leader on 5/26/2008 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** CAMPTON - Albert Boyd "Pop" Cecil, 90, of Hazel Green, KY, died Sat, May 24, 2008 at St. Clair Medical Center, Morehead, KY. He was born in Morgan County, KY on Jan 18, 1918 to the late Sam D. and Daisy Murphy Cecil. He was united in marriage to the late Ruth Oney Cecil for 56 years, who preceded him in death on April 6, 1997. He was a retired dairy farmer, auctioneer, truck driver, and real estate broker for over 50 years. He was a person who loved people and it was said that he had never met a stranger. He was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by Governor A.B. "Happy" Chandler. He attended Hazel Green Christian Church and was baptized by Reverend Lowell Fields. He lived a long and wonderful life, and he did it his way. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Phyllis Ann Hall, a sister, Annette Mann, and an infant brother, O.D. Cecil. He is survived by three children: Barbara (Charles) Taylor of Eaton, OH, Dr. Sam (Anne) Cecil of Stant! on, KY, and Delena Manning of Hazel Green, KY; six beloved grandchildren: Myra Poteet, Bart Bryant, Carl Bryant, David Cecil, Darin Cecil and Dena Williams; twelve great-grandchildren, and by a special, caring friend and devoted companion, Wanda Kelsey. Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Tue, May 27, 2008 at the Hazel Green Christian Church, Hazel Green, KY, with Ralph Lockard, II, and Scott Lockard performing the service. Visitation will be Mon, May 26, after 5pm at Porter & Son Funeral Directors in Campton, KY, and after 11am Tue, May 27, at Hazel Green Cemetery at Hazel Green, KY. Burial will follow in the Hazel Green Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bart and Carl Bryant, David and Darin Cecil, Alan Perkins, Carl and Scott Kelsey, and Jerry Murphy.
