Obituary: Davis, Elsie (Reed) - Monday, April 10, 2000 Middletown Journal Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** Elsie R. Davis Mrs. Elsie R. Davis, 81, of 617 Dorset Drive, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born in Hazelgreen, Ky., Oct. 19, 1918, the daughter of Richard and Mattie (Oldfield) Reed. She was retired from Middletown City Schools, where she worked for 15 years as the secretary to cafeterias supervisor. She formerly worked at Citizens Building and Loan. Mrs. Davis was a longtime member of Holy Family Parish, a life member of CLC and was active with the American Red Cross. She also volunteered at Middletown Regional Hospital. Her husband, Gerald E. Davis, preceded her in death in 1997. She is survived by two sons, Gerald E. Davis Jr. of Middletown and Robert R. Davis (wife, Paige) of Sanford, N.C.; a grandson, Daniel A. Davis (wife, Amy) of St. Paul, Minn.; two great-grandsons, Trevor Davis and Sean Davis; her beloved foster daughter, Barbara Spencer (husband, Bill) of Lebanon; foster grandchildren, Victor Reed Spencer of Los Angeles and Faith Ann Spencer of Boynton Beach, Fla.; step-granddaughter, Ann Haley of Long Beach, Calif. and her daughter, Marah Litchford. ARRANGEMENTS: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's Chapel, 1401 First Ave., celebrated by Father John Civille. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery.
