Obituary: Childers, Carrie Kidd Cockerham- Saturday, July 14, 2001 Middletown Journal Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** Carrie Childers Mrs. Carrie Childers departed from this life Saturday evening, July 14, 2001, in Campton, Ky. She was 96. She came into this life on April 12, 1905, to James Mason Kidd and Margaret Taulbe. She married Henry Clay Cockerham and together they had nine children, 35 grandchildren and many more great-grandchildren. She married Richard Childers late in life and enjoyed many wonderful years in life with him. Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clay Cockerham; sons Forest, Billy, Howard, Elzie and Carl; and her second husband, Richard Childers. Surviving children include J.M. of Germantown, Ohio, Sterling of Franklin, Ohio, Joyce of Miamisburg, Ohio, Henry Cockerham of Franklin and Ruby Lawson of Campton, Ky., who cared for her mother in her final days. Carrie had the best sense of humor and we will miss the little cackle in her laugh. When the grandchildren get together, her fried chicken was always the topic of conversation. "We tried to tell those chickens not to come around when she had corn in her apron!" She and grandpa instilled in the family great Christian values and we hope to keep passing those along to our children through the ages for this life is but a moment in time and our heavenly home is forever. ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation was from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 16, at the Porter Funeral Home in Campton, Ky. Funeral services were concluded at the Church of God in Campton at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2001. ******************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities as long as this message remains on all copied material.
