Obituary: Bumgardner, Bert - Friday, June 18, 1943 Beattyville Enterprise - July 1, 1943 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** Bert Bumgardner, 62 died at 8 o'clock Friday morning, June 18 as a result of heat prostration. He died at the Eastern State Hospital in Lexington where he was employed as a guard. Funeral services were conducted at the Campton Baptist Church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, June 20. Burial was in the Evans Cemetery at Campton. Mr. Bumgardner was born at Campton on Jan. 23, 1881, the son of Joseph and Emily Howe Bumgardner. He was a resident of Lee County for a number of years and was a merchant at Fillmore for approximately twelve years. The family moved to Campton in 1935. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Abbie Bumgardner, Stanton; two sons, Sgt.
