Born September 1, 1921 in Wolfe County, Ky. to Stephen T. and Anna (nee Rose) Byrd, he retired from General Motors in 1977 after 32 years of service. A member of the Kings Mills Baptist Church, he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon for many years. Preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Olive Oditt and Edith Arnett, survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mae (nee McIntosh) Byrd of Mason; two sons, Gary (Hallie) Byrd of West Harrison, Ind. and Dennis (Michelle) Byrd of Kings Mills; three daughters, Yvonne (David) Culley of Austin, Ind., Betty (Mark) Stephenson of Mason, and Patty (Fred) Schappacher of Mason; three sisters, Reva Rudd of Lebanon, Treva Vance of Harrison, and Vanita Centers of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The visitation was held Saturday December 22, 9-11:00 A.M., with the funeral service immediately following, all at the Kings Mills Baptist Church. Pastor Manuel Guzman officiated. Interment follows in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mason. Donations requested to the Scripture Ministries, c/o the Kings Mills Baptist Church, 1627 King Avenue, Kings Mills, OH, 45034.
