Born June 5, 1926 to Robert Abrahm (Abe) Anderson and Ida Young (second wife of Abe), in Whitley County, KY where he has lived most of his life. Ivary had nine sisters and four brothers. He is the grandson of the Civil War soldier Henry H. Anderson and Rebecca Hollen (Monhollen). Ivary is the great-grandson of Robert Anderson and Kesiah Sneed. He married Marcella and they share nine children.
