Headstone with left top corner broken off as per
drawing at right - believed to be CURNUT.  The 1st
in Nov. 1857 seemed to be an afterthought, being
added in after the original markings.

Headstone started but not completed with the
wording and shape of stone at right.  The
etchings are clear and not eroded with age as
so many stones are.  The D is made backward.

This cemetery is located on the old Sampson Stanfield farm. A family named
Huddleston lived there in 1976. The cemetery site is now being used as a
barnyard. Only one stone remains upright and in place, that of Elizabeth
Campbell. The stones remaining, including that of Sampson, are piled up
under a tree with other rocks that look like a base for a fireplace in an
old homeplace. We took	three pictures, one of the headstone of Sampson
Stanfield and two of the general area. We searched the area up to 1/4 mile
radius for other stones, none found.
