In
the Name of Our Lord God one thousand and eight hundred and
ten, I, George Wells of Shelby County & State of
Kentucky, being in my right mind and in Common health on
this ninth day of May 1810, and in the nineteenth year of
this Commonwealth, Acknowledge this to be my last will and
Testament. And first my will is that all my Lawful
debts be paid out of my Estate before any division takes
place among my Lawful Legatees. Secondly my will is that my
wife Agness Wells and Mr. Benjamin Stone should act as my
Executors in the Executing of this my will. I give and
bequeath to my Daughter,
Nancy Bridges, one Negro Woman named Sucky to her and her
heirs forever. I give unto my son, Samuel Wells, one
good Cow and Calf worth Ten dollars to him and his heirs
forever. I give and bequeath to my son, Benjamin
Wells, one Negro man named Solem, and to him and his heirs
forever. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Alinder
Pane, one Negro Woman name Jemimah to be hers and her heirs
forever. I give and bequeath to my Daughter, Susannah
Birdwell, one Negro Woman name Rose to hers and her heirs
forever. I give unto my Daughter, Polly Hedges, one
Negro Woman named Amey to be hers and her heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my Son, George Wells, the tract of
land on which he the said George Wells now lives and
containing Sixty three acres. Also one Negro Boy named
Rueben. Also one ewe and lamb to be his and his heirs
forever. I give and bequeath to my Son, William Wells, one
Negro Boy named Lewis to his and his heirs forever. I
give and bequeath to my Daughter, Lydia Richey, one Negro
Boy named Wilis to be hers and her heirs forever. I
give and bequeath to my Daughter, Peggy McDaniel, one Negro
girl named Mary to be hers and her heirs forever. The
Balance of my Estate real and personal I give to my wife,
Agness Wells, for her life time and at her death to be
equally divided between my two sons and five daughters, the
children of my present wife Agness Wells. But my will
and desire is if either of my ????? named two sons and five
daughters should become of lawful age to marry in the life
time of my wife, Agness Wells, that the said children so
coming of age or marrying should have their part of my
estate in my wife Agness Wells’ hands given unto them.
