Marshall William Stigers, 68, died at his residence
in Hatton Saturday, September 23, (1967) following a long illness.
A native of Franklin County, he lived most of his life in
Shelby County. Stigers was a retired employee of the L & N
Railroad, and a member of the Beechridge Baptist Church, where he
served as a deacon for the past 40 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bessie Mae Perkins Stigers, Shelby
County; three sons, Allen Gene Stigers of Harlingen, Texas; Harold
Douglas Stigers of Louisville and James Donald Stigers of
Frankfort; a sister, Mrs. Emmitt Vannatta of Louisville; a brother
B. K. Stigers of Frankfort; four grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at Harrod Brothers Memorial
Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Douglas Olive, Beechridge
Baptist Church officiating.
Burial was in the family lot at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Joe Skelton, Walter Thompson, South Devers,
Cecil Woods, T. A. Gabbard and Hubert Young.
