Mrs. D. ( I ) L. Franklin, 73, Mt. Eden Resident Dies
Mrs. Georgia Ann Franklin, 73, died Monday in King’s Daughter’s
Hospital. A native of Shelby county, she was the daughter of
George and Sarah Belle Lyons (Lyon) Cook.
She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and a resident
of the Mt. Eden community. Surviving are her husband, D. (
I. ) L. Franklin; three daughters, Mrs. T. E. Norvall,
Mississippi; Mrs. Edith Gray, Mt. Eden and Mrs. Dorothy Bishop,
Louisville; three sons, Gilbert Franklin, Charlestown, Ind.;
Arnold Franklin, Bowling Green; and G. T. Franklin, Mt. Eden; a
sister, Mrs. Ambrose Thompson, Georgetown, and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning in the Mt. Eden
Baptist Church. Burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eugene Shelburne, Clarence Proctor, Jr., Charles
Temple, Robert Perden and Bernice Thompson.

Georgia Ann was the granddaughter of Harrison Lyon &
his first wife, Catherine Ritter. She was the w/o Issac L.
Franklin. They married on 29 Jan 1908 in Shelby County, KY.
George Ann's headstone at Grove Hill Cemetery gives her death date
as 16, Jan.1956. Newspaper clipping of her obituary did not
give a source or date.
