Hugh McDANIEL of SC & KY
Posted By: Bernice Rose Ketterer <brrose@primary.net>
Date:10 May 2000

On a trip to the library in St.Louis Co. MO, I ran across McDaniel Newsletters printed in
the 1980s. I didn't find anything new on Spencer Sr. who is my line but found the
following on HUGH.

Will dated 7-22-1813 Chester Dist SC
Hugh McDaniel Sr. d. 1814
wife Rebecca Ervin
children
1.John
2.Henry
3.Francis
4.William
5.Jean Brown
6.Agness Reeves
7.Molly Brown
8.Betith Gibson
9.David

Pulaski Co.KY will dated 2-18-1828
Hugh McDaniel d. 9-28-1828
m. Rebecca Rogers 9-22 1778 Fairfield Dist SC
Children
1.Annie Mills stayed in SC
2.Jane m. George Kinder Terpin
3.Rachel m. John Allen
4.Hugh
5.Nancy Harris
6.Andrew
7.Bathith Kissee
8.Peggy Roberts
9.Rebecca Cain

In the newsletters they thought Hugh in KY was the son of David from SC.
I think this family used Hugh and Henry as the same person like some use Mary and Polly.
I think it it very possible that Henry from SC turned into Hugh in KY. William McDaniel
Sr. had a daughter who married Henry McDaniel. Is that Hugh #4 child of Hugh of KY? I
can't vouch as to the accuracy of this data but felt it may help someone on that line.

John, William, Mary Ham(m)
Posted By: Tonya L. Thurman <TonThur@aol.com>
Date:17 May 2000

I am looking for the family of John A. Ham. He was born circa 1811 in S.C. His son John
was born in Kentucky circa. 1855. His second son, William Lincoln, is said to have been
born in Somerset, Kentucky on 23 Sept. 1864. There was another child, Mary, born in
Illinois in 1863. John A. Ham's wife's first name was said to be Matilda.

That is all the information I have, and I would like to hear from anyone who thinks they
can shed some light on this family.

I am searching for information on William Williams and Peggie Hay from Eubank, Ky. They
had a son named George Lincoln Williams born in 1861. I found a record for a Peggie
Williams on the 1890 Special Schedule, War of Rebellion Survivors and Widows. I sent for
the pension records for William Williams and they found them, but he was married to

MELTON
Posted By: Carla Harris <charris@texas.net>
Date:28 May 2000

Hello,

My gggrandfather, Henry Harrison Melton was born in Pulaski Co., 14 Mar 1818. He died in
Greene Co., IN, 6 Apr 1901. This info came from his obituary. His parents were Nathaniel
Melton b. abt. 1785 and Elizabeth Hanson b; abt. 1793, both born in VA. I cannot find any
Melton's in Pulaski County. I think Nathan and Elizabeth lived in Wayne County, but I'm
not sure. If anybody has ANY information any Melton's in Pulaski and vicinity, I would
greatly appreciate the help. I am having no luck in locating my Melton's.
Thank you,
Carla
