My sister, Barbara and I were adopted in Akron, OH about 1951, and a third sister, Peggy
Jane was adopted in California about 1948. Anyway, after many years of work, we were able
to get an original birth certificate for Barbara, and it lists her parents as father
Harold Ray HALL, born 1921 in Somerset, KY and mother Ada Marie GROSS born 1927 in New
Lexington, OH. A nephew has done some research in Pulaski Co, and tells me that the
father of Harold Ray was Vola HALL, and mother was Verna LESTER, but he no longer has any
documentation to support this. Does anyone out there have any information on any of these
people?

I am from the Obediah Phelps 1766-1844/Margaret "Peggy" Dye 1770-1833, line. What is your
line in relation to them? They are buried in Pulaski County. I believe on the Randolph

Shadrack Dye who married Eleanore McClara Wesley ( my line ) and also of Deliah who
married Robert " Robin " Wesley. I would like to share information with others

Obediah & Peggy are my gg grandparents. My Dye side started with Peggy. We must be some
kind of cousin! I notice a lot of correspondence from you and you probably have a lot
more factual info than I! My line is rather complete from Obediah/Peggy but not too
substantiated prior. Maybe we could exchange family histories, if you think it would be
worthwhile. I am a native of Pulaski County KY and still have relation living there.

You are right about the cousins, but it is my wife who is of the Dye line. I have
researched the Dyes back 4 generations from Margaret, but still have some blanks. I don`t
know if we ever find everyone, but we all try. I would be happy to share ? exchange
information with you. My wife was born in Somerset, her parents are buried there, and she
has family living there. I live near Bowling Green Ky. , and visit Pulaski Co. quite
often both to visit and to do research. My family is from Casey Co, Russell Co., Butler
Co.,Warren Co. and Meade Co. Let me know by email what you need, and I`ll try to help. I
have nothing except the name of Obediah Phelps. Thank you Bob

Sarah (Hawkins) Alexander. Thomas's parents: Jonathan 1660-1695

Elizabeth Arnold I don't know if they were Quakers. I wouldn't doubt it because there are
so many Phelps and Bateman's mentioned in Quaker papers... The Phelps limb migrated to

Hi, Steve. I found some info on this family while researching my husband's lines (Taylor,
Morrow, Scott, Dodson etc.). There is a web page at
http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/h/a/m/Erin-Marie-Hammond/GENE3-0005.html that shows
Rhoda Mary Morrow but I think some of her information is in error or she has just
transcribed her notes wrong. Rhoda Mary Morrow was sister to my husband's great-
grandmother Lydia Elizabeth Morrow Scott. But our information has her born Sept. 1, 1863
and marrying Estel Dick, with two children, Thelma Dick Shear and Ina Dick. I do not have
further info on this line. I have tried several times but cannot get Erin-Marie Hammond
to reply to my e-mail. Let me know if I may have any other info that would be helpful to
you. Virginia

Date:6 April 2000

James Smith: Will dated 4 February 1823, in which he names his wife Keziah/Cassiah
Smith. Children:
youngest son John, 100 acres; Morgan to receive 100 acres at the age of 21 years; James,
ten dollars, and he is assumed the oldest son; Daughters Pamela Smith and Callince
Cunne? Signed by James Smith, witnessed by Elijah Barnes and Joseph Thompson.

Inventory is dated 8 Oct 1824. signed by Joseph Thompson, John Wamen and Adams Crafford
(Crowford). Ninrod Adams is one of the buyers named in the inventory.

It is possible that this James Smith was the son of Anderson Smith, Sr., as he and
Anderson Smith, Sr. had land dealings on 27 Sept 1807, in Pulaski Co. KY. We know that
Rebecca Thompson married Anderson Smith, Jr. 16 July 1801 in Pulaski Co. with the consent
of her father John Thompson and Anderson Smith, Sr. John Thompson was the father of
Joseph Thompson. Ninrod Adams was married to Polly Thompson also a dughter of John
Thompson and sister to Joseph Thompson. Ninrod Adams sister, Zelky, was married to
Joseph Thompson.

Would like to find information on the children of James Smith. They may prove that James
may have been the son of Anderson Smith, Sr. James Smith was in the 1810 US for PCK but
not in the 1820, unless he was missed.

Gloria

Hi Susan!

It was quite a thrill to get some information on members of The Pulaski Baker Family.

My 4ggm Elizabeth Baker, b. 1787 NC married 4 ggf James Arnold and I suspect that their
1st son Andrew J. (Jackson?) Arnold, b. 1814 was namesake of Elizabeth's father.

My 4ggm Mary Baker, b. 1804/05 TN/KY? married 4ggf John Whiteaker and curiously enough I
found 5ggps Giles & Margaret nee Mills Whiteaker being adjacent neighbors of Andrew
Baker, b. -1765 in 1830 & 1840 Laurel Co., KY. In 1840 Laurel Co. John & Mary Baker
Whiteaker are living beside both Andrew & Giles. 4ggps John & Mary Baker Whiteaker named
their 1st three sons William, James & Michael... William & James are both common names
with the Bakers & Whiteakers (smile, as with the whole wide world!!!) but the name
Michael at this period of time is a Baker name. I suspect that 4ggm Mary Baker
Whiteaker's parents were Michael & Nancy Phelps Baker, married 2 Feb. 1804, Madison Co.,
KY..

I am very curious about this Rowan Co. Marriage record,WHITACRE, Mark & _________, 29
January 1767; Francis TAYLOR, Abner BAKER, bondsmen.

I am also very curious to find out more about Josiah Isaac Baker & Prudence Whitaker
married 16 Nov. 1807, Pulaski Co., KY.

Any information on your Baker Family would be deeply appreciated. Thanks. Jim

indirectly responsible for the spread of the Mormon Church. The head of a large group of
Campbellites at Kirtland, Ohio was converted by Joseph Smith, and the convert brought
with him almost the entire town to the new religion. Prior to this conversion, Smith's
church was just a small handful of persons, mostly relatives.

Rev. Adam Banks's uncle, Adam Banks, another Baptist, had a small part in the history of
the Baptist Church in Virginia. In 1773, Adam was jailed for praying in the home of his
uncle, John Delaney in today's Madison Co., VA. There is apparently a lot more here than
indicated by these simple words. The new Baptist church had been put up directly in front
of the Anglican church there. Anglicanism was the established religion, but the Act of
Toleration allowed dissenting religions to be present. With somewhat questionable
legitimacy, arrests had been made from time to time in the 1770s of Baptists,
particularly of intinerant preachers for disturbing the peace, etc. There are instances
of their holding services through the jail bars to followers, etc. etc. In conflict with
the Act of Toleration was a law requiring preachers in Virginia to be ordained by a
bishop in England. So Adam's arrest was apparently somewhat of a power play in the
context of fuzzy laws and the undiplomatic placement of the new church.

I have a problem with Karen Hughes/James Keeney. I am of the Hughes line (Hiram Hughes b
1793/4).

The name is Karen in the PCHS Book. Valerie Davis of the Pulaski page shows Caro? (which
could be Caroline/Carolina) Even the name Karen could be KY pronunciation for Corrine.

I show Karen born 12 July 1791 in Knox Co TN(NC). I show the marriage 15 Mar 1806,
Pulaski Co. George Waddle attended, wife Annis Hughes, surely related.

On 16 Oct 1822 Susanna Hughes married George Keeney in Pulaski Co. My Hiram Hughes
surety.

Does anyone know the parents of these three women, Annis (George Waddle), Caro?/Karen
(James Keeney) and Susanna (George Keeney)???

Thanks so much, Doris
