in response to DAVID R. WADDLE/DOC WADDLE, posted by Gene Pitman on Thu, 30 Apr 1998
Gene, appreciate your help with "Doc" Waddle. Doc's wife, Lou
(Lula, Louella) McHargue was the daughter of Sheriff John H.
McHargue who was murdered in 1891 Pulaski County. The Gilliland
brothers, James Harvey & Josiah, were accused of the murder and
lynched. However, Louella is suspected of killing her father and
framing the Gilliland's. This story makes for good reading and is
posted on the Pulaski Co. webpage, titled "A Pulaski County
Epic". Also, heard from a Gilliland researcher that Louella may
have relocated after marrying Doc to perhaps the Cincinnati OH
area, but have no proof of this.
Thanks again,
John Wilson

Are you aware of the annual SHADOAN reunion?
Beginning of the 4th of July weekend 1967, those of SHADOAN
heritage have been enjoying annual reunions in a mountain
location between Livingston and Bozeman, Montana, in the
south-central part of the state near Yellowstone National
Park. Although most of the 40 to 50 who attend are from Monatana,
anyone of SHADOAN descent is always welcome.
Accomodations are usually in tents, travel trailers, etc. and the
weather is usually ideal for outdoor cooking, family picnic style.
Some come for only a portion of the reunion while others camp for
3 or more days. A warm welcome awaits those who care to attend.

Now come on! John CORNELIUS family in the 1820 Clay co
census living in Sturgeon Creek area that is now Owsley co. had 11,
that is eleven persons, in the household. John had been on Clay co
tax list since 1815. Surely some of these 11 people got out there and
multiplied and have a few hundred descendants, at least one or two of
whom are researching their
roots.
Somehow this family is related to the CORNELIUS family that
shows up on 1840 Laurel co tax lists and 1850 Laurel co census and then
1860 Jackson co censuses. But how? Are the Whitley co CORNELIUS' connected?
Family lore has it that they were in Pulaski co before Clay co, but I have
no evidence of that.
Most of you know I have been trying for a long time to find
parents of my Andrew CORNELIUS, b KY abt 1813 and died in Jackson co KY in
1896(Obit in Mountain Echo). I really appreciate all the help in the past
and keep hoping for that one big breakthrough that perhaps there is a
descendant has found something that I have been unable to find...a deed, a
will, a marriage or death that can make the magic connection to the puzzle.
Is this the time?
Thanks

places, but have never been able to connect them and would love

Susan Stroxtile, I believe is the sister of my ggrandfather
William James Stroxtile. I have found two Stroxtile's in the
1840 Census of Pulaskie County Ky. One a John and the other one
William. John had a son born between 1835 - 1839 according to the
1840 census. Robert will later give his b. date as 1835 on one of
his four marriage bonds. This is a R.
Stroxdel that put the surety down for Susan's wedding to Thomas
B0hannan. I have his first, third and fourth m. dates. Also some
other Stroxtile's and Stroxdal's . I do believe they are brother
and sister. When Rufus-William
s first son, marries in Dec of 1910, he put down that his Mother
is dead, but his Father- William is a farmer in Columbus Mo. I
wondered who he went to live with there, as I couldn't find him
in the 1900 census. But to answer your question, yes I believe
that Susan is related to the "rare group" known today as
Stroxtile and of yesteryears as Stroxdal's.

Your Pulaski Co. KY inquiry about Martin Thomas Keith caught my
eye, because I am related to the Keiths of Pulaski Co. by
marriage, not by blood. I will alert my Keith POCs to see if they
wish to contact you. Now, I have found in my piles of files
(pardon the rhyme), a sheet of an 1850 Census somewhere in KY,
probably Pulaski Co. I found lots of Keiths and Martins on that
page, but I have no other identification. I found Claborn Keith,
age 36, male, farmer, property worth $100, a female Permlia (?
sp.) Keith, age 32, female, and Milly, age 15, female (assumed to
be their child). Could your ggfather Martin Thomas Keith be their
child?
The other Keiths listed on the same page are as follows:
George Keith, age 24, male, farmer, property worth $50
Tamsy Keith, age 26, female
Marion (? sp.), age 3, male
John Keith, age 61, male farmer, property worth $200
Dillhy (? sp.), age 57, female
William, age 28, male
Clay, age 26, male
George, age 21, male
Martha, age 17, female
Nancy, age 15, female
Joshauing (? sp.), age 12, male
Laten, age 10(?), male
Jasper, age 8, male
Claten Keith, age 22, male, farmer, property worth $60
Lusure, age 21, female
I hope this information is of some help to you. I'm glad I didn't
throw this poor orphan page away, if it has helped someone.

There is an Anney Carson in the 1830 Pulaski County census. Was

There was also a John Carson in the 1830 and 1840 Pulaski County

next-door Wayne Co. Perhaps the father died and the son moved????
Any information is appreciated.
LYDIA DURHAM, a resident of Pulaski Co, married JAMES J. JOHNSON,
resident of Wayne Co, in Pulaski Co in 1818. Any information on
the DURHAMs or JOHNSONs would be very helpful.

I have a good deal of information on the Taylors from
Casey and Pulaski Counties in KY. It will take me
a while to search so if you'll wait until tomorrow I will
get back with you. Do you know if the Taylor's you
are searching are originally from England & VA?
Hope I can find something for you.

Hello,
Looking for information on John S. TAYLOR who purchased 50 acres
in Pulaski Co. in July of 1847. I suspect the "S" stands for
SINGLETON. Would love any information, ie. his family and where
he was from.
Thanks.........Valorie Taylor Spence

Dick you are searching in Pulaski Co., KY? I have
quite a bit of Dick information however I can find
nothing on a William married to Jane Phelps. Do you
know if your William was married more than once?
Let me know if you would like me send other info that
I have. I'll also look up Jane Phelps in my information.

I am searching for Benjamin Clark, b. 1826 who married Martha
Kelly July 29, 1849 in Wayne County. My great-grandfather, Elias,
was born in Somerset Feb. 22, 1854. He had many siblings:

Benjamin and Martha, Tom, Jim and Margaret. Any help will be
appreciated. I believe they were all born in Kentucky--Wayne or
Pulaski counties. Don't know Benjamin's birth place or parents'
