Metcalfe County is located in Kentucky's Mississippian Plateau Region, with most of the county's terrain ranging from rolling to hilly. The county covers a land area of 291 square miles and in 2000 had a population of 10,037 persons, up 12% from 1990.
The purpose of this website is to provide you with information, and links to information, about the families that have lived in this area since the first settlers arrived from the east. Since Metcalfe County was not created until 1860, your research may take you to neighboring counties as well.
We have attempted to group pages of information to make it easier for you to locate what you seek. At the top of this page you will find links to these groups. For example, if you seek information about one of our towns, you will want to follow the link to Metcalfe Towns. If you want to see what the Metcalfe County Historical Society is doing, you will follow the link to the Historical Society.
