Joseph W. Alexander and his wife Ida (Rayburn/Raeborn) Alexander

Joseph W. Alexander and his wife Ida lived on Dog Trot Road, where they are both buried. Known as Uncle Joe by a lot of people. Uncle Joe made coffins for people who had no money to pay, his wife Ida would line them with beautiful fabric. Uncle Joe was a skilled carpenter and blacksmith.

Joseph and his wife Ida Alexander had a beautiful farm with every type of fruit tree you could imagine, they had hogs and butchered every fall, with people in the town helping and sharing in bounty.

They would have men come in and help with the tobacco crop, working from dawn till dark. Ida Alexander would lay a table with every kind of good thing to eat for the men.

Joseph was said to have been in the Spanish America War, though this is not documented.
