Mr. John "Papa John" Stapleton, Age 86, of Alvin, Wisconsin passed away Friday April 6, 2001 at the Lillian Kerr Nursing Home, Phelps, Wisconsin. He was born January 29, 1915 in Tabor, Kentucky. The son of the late James & Lillie (Day) Stapleton came to the Alvin area in the 1930's with his parents. He attended school in Frenchburg, Kentucky & the Elvoy School in Nelma, Wisconsin. He married the former Eva Spencer July 6, 1940 in Nelma & the couple celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. John worked for the Thunder Lake Logging Company, Three Lakes, Wisconsin and late was a Truck Driver for Forest County Highway Dept. for 35 Yrs. retiring in 1976. He was a very active member of the Little White Church in Alvin, WI. He served as Sunday School Superintendent and taught Sunday school for many years also picking up the students for their Sunday School classes. He was active in Missionary work. He was a "FRIEND" to everyone. He was also a member of the Pentecostal Church Campg! round, Wisconsin Rapids, Wi. where he also served on the Camp Board for many yrs. He was also preceded in death by his Son William in 1970, 4 Brothers, Clay, Harley, Lawrence & Ale and 3 Sisters Etta Mae Stapleton & Virgie Ingram, Flossy Thompson. STOUT, Carl C. - Of New Port Richey, Florida, formerly of Burton, age 47, died Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at his residence. Barbara W. Ingram

January 20, 1946 - October 25, 2005

FRENCHBURG - Barbara W. Ingram, a lifelong resident of Menifee County, was born Jan. 20, 1946 to Alpha Pitts Wells of Frenchburg and the late Kern P. Wells. Barbara served on the Political Steering Committee for Martha Layne Collins, she previously had been a volunteer at the Glady Historical Site in Menifee County, the Frenchburg-Menifee County Chamber of Commerce, and the Head Start Program. She previously represented Menifee County with the Kentucky Tourism Department, helped with the Menifee Mountain Memories Festival, as Co-Chairperson, Quilt Chairperson, and with advertising and fund-raising. For a number of years she has done the mailing list for the annual Frenchburg School Reunion. She is a 1964 graduate of Menifee County High School. She helped organize her 40th class reunion in 2004. She passed away Tues., Oct. 25, 2005 at her home. She is a Kentucky Colonel. In 2004 she served as the Frenchburg/Menifee County Christmas Parade Marshal. During the last 40-plus years she has researched and published several books and articles on Menifee county history and family genealogy. She maintains a Menifee county genealogy website and and is a member or past member of several genealogy and historical societies, a life member of the Estill County Historical & Genealogy Society and a member of the Red River Historical Society. As a wife, mother, and mammy, Barbara hostesses many family a community get togethers at her home. She is a member of the Frenchburg Baptist Church and the Menifee County Extension Homemakers. In 2004, Barbara received the "Survivor of the Year" award from Menifee County Relay for Life organizers and was awarded a "Certification of Appreciation because of her hard work in the fight against cancer. She helped organize and publish the Relay for Life of Menifee County Cookbook. She was a cancer survivor who continued to volunteer and do research while undergoing weekly chemotherapy treatments. Survivors include her mother, Alpha Wells, Frenchburg; her husband of 32 years, Homer Ingram; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Darrel Rogers; and a granddaughter, Allie Rogers; all of Frenchburg. She is survived by three great aunts, Betty Pitts Doughty, Carrie Pitts Cooper, and Mazie Skidmore Pitts Cater. Two uncles, Soney and Harlan Pitts; three aunts Alene Helton Pitts, Alberta Martin Pitts, and Reva Sons Pitts Yarber. A host of cousins also survive. Other relative include a sister, Mary Hannah Wells Benson and her husband Wayne Benson, and their daughters, Rita Hall and Susan Johnson and their families. Also, Claude and Edna Ingram and their family, Betty and Mack Compton and their family and Jerr Ingram and his family. She was preceded in death by her father, Kern P. Wells; grandparents, Asa B. and Susie Wells, Joel Suel and Alafair Pitts, two uncles, Roy Pitts and Ray Pitts. Bethel C. Morton died of natural causes Dec. 3, 2005, at the Wallowa Valley Care Center in Enterprise. She was 89 years old. She was born on Nov. 11, 1916 in Menifee County, Ky. She was married to Elmer Morton and worked as a caregiver out of her home. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Travis and Phoebe Mullins. She is survived by her son Jack Morton of Enterprise and daughters Sherry Marcum of La Grande and Bonnie Smith of Columbus, Miss.

WALLACE, Artie Lou Age 90, of Middletown, died Monday, December 19, 2005 at her residence. She was born May 19, 1915 in Menifee County, Kentucky, the daughter of Clifford Lawson and Jennie Bell (Cox) Lawson. She worked for 31 years for Western-Southern Insurance Company, retiring as Office Manager. Artie was a member of Stratford Heights Church of God. She is survived by her son, Dale (wife, Yolanda) Curtis of Trenton; two grandchildren, Kelly Philpot and Robert Dale Curtis; four great grandchildren, Tyler Curtis, Olivia Philpot, Connor Curtis, and Austin Philpot; and three brothers, Jack (wife, Mabelle) Lawson, Gordon (wife, Zella) Lawson and Ronald (wife, Frieda) Lawson all of Middletown. She was preceded in death by husbands, Ernest Ben Curtis in 1959, Donald Edward Wallace in 1997 and her parents. McKenzie Sr. whom she married February 22, 1952 ; son and daughter-in-law, William R. JACKSON, Talmadge Dewitt Age 84 of Haines City, Florida passed away Thursday, November 30th, 2006. He was born on December 9th, 1921 in Frenchburg, Kentucky. He was a plant operator for the American Material Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1987 in Middletown, Ohio. He moved to Florida in 1998, where he lived until his passing. He was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church of Haines City, Florida. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife; Irene Jackson, his brothers: Orba, Raymond, Herbert and Clayton Jackson, and a sister; Daisey Rogers.
