Enlisted Ky Army Nat.Guard June 1988, as a PFC as an Indirectfire Infantryman(11C10). Transfered to US Army in Nov 1990 as a SPEC 4. Finished active duty June 1992 and transfered to Army Reserve. Was honorably discharged from all 3 in 1998. Was assigned to Somerset Armory Ky Army Nat. Guard too Detachment 2 HHC 1/149th Inf (mechanized) Mortar Platoon. Once transfered to Active US Army, was assigned to the Mortar Platoon Headquarters, Headquarters Company (HHC) 3rd(Bulldog)Brigade, 32nd Armor Unit, 1st Armor Division in Bamburg, Germany; during Desert Sheild/Storm. During his Germany tour, Communism collapsed in USSR and the cold war was over. His unit was shut down, and he was ordered to report to Ft. Hood,Texas. Where he was assigned too Headquarters Headquarters Company (HHC) 3rd Brigade 32nd Armor Unit, 1st Cavalry Division. He finished his active duty there.

Military Awards: Combat Infantrymens Badge, 1st Armor Div Combat Patch, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Overseas award, Service award, National Defense Medal, Southwest Asia Medal with 3 operation stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal(saudi govt award), Liberation of Kuwait Medal(Kuwait govt award), Good conduct Medal. Brigade commendation award, 1st AD award, VII Corp Commendation.

Weapons Qualifications: Expert rifle, expert pistol, expert mortal, expert bayonet, expert machine gun, expert grenade. Civilian awards for military service: House of Representatives award, Colonelship with Ky Col.'s.
