Ettie was born about 1858 in Marshall Co., KY. Her parents left the county and went to Warren Co., Iowa where Julia Effie Graham was born in 1861. The family then came back to KY to either Marshall County or McCracken where Grahamville was settled by this same family. There is information that says that Ettie & James Grimes had a daughter named Trixie. Trixie and her cousin Lizzie were on a excursion boat that sank in the Ohio River, just off the Cottonwood Bar several miles upriver of Paducah, about 1910-1911. Both girls drowned and are buried in McCracken Co., KY at the Graham Cemetery. I have seen newspaper reports of this and was wondering if anyone had any information on James Grimes and his family? In the newspaper account of this story it mentions that the girls were visiting family in Smithland. I am wondering who the girls might have been visiting and if there are any GRIMES or GRAHAM family from this area who might know of this story? I look forward to hearing from you.
