Roy Messer Mr. Roy Messer, 55, of College Heights, Barbourville, a son of Vaslean Mills Messer and the late Coon Messer Sr., passed away Thursday, March 13, 2003 in the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville. He was attending the Calvery Baptist Church at Gray. He was a former milk carrier for Ronnie Messer's Milk Distributor in Knox County. In 1969, he united in marriage with Virginia Sizemore and two children were born. In January, 1987, he united in marriage with Janice Steele Adams. He is survived by his wife, Janice Messer of Barbourville; his children, Roy Scott Messer and wife Cathy of Romulus, Mich., Melissa Messer of Monroe, Mich., and Darlene Whitman and husband William of Dayton, Ohio; four grandchildren; his mother, Vaslean Mills Messer of Barbourville; his sisters, Dessie Messer Owens and husband Luther of Barbourville, Virginia Hopkins and husband Kenneth of Gray, Dorothy Stewart and husband Carl of Detroit, Mich.,; his brothers, Ronnie Messer and wife Edna of Barbourville, Lonnie Messer and wife Tammy of Corbin. Services were conducted in Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, March 16, 2003 with the Rev. A.Y. Mills and the Rev. Dale Johnson officiating. Burial was in Barbourville Cemetery. Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements. The Messer family have requested contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation in memory of Roy Messer
