Mrs. Mary Martin

Mrs. Mary Martin, age 78 of Barbourville, Ky. departed this life on Monday-June 26, 2006 in the Knox Co. Hospital. She was the widow of the late Daw Vinson Martin. Mrs. Martin was the daughter of Henry Baker and Cordia Rice Baker Grubb born to them on January 17, 1928 in Knox Co. Ky. She was a member of the Boone Heights Holiness Church. Mrs. Martin loved taking care of all the children in the community, quilting, growing flowers and cooking. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents Henry Baker and Cordia Baker Grubb, her husband Daw Martin, one son, Charles Winston Martin, four sisters: Martha McCully, Ruth Baker, Elizabeth Baker, Della Baker, and four brothers: John L. Baker, Pete Baker, Tip Baker, Hubert Baker. Survivors Include: Three daughters: Cordia Martin Moore of Barbourville, Ky. Anna Williams and husband Harold of Morrow, Oh. Katherine Smith and husband Hersel of Woolum, Ky. Three sons: Henry Martin and wife Catherine of Independence, Ky. Donald Martin and wife Kay of Girdler, Ky Harold Martin and wife Melinda of Dayton, Oh. One sister: Sarah Leddington and husband Jerry of Tennessee Four brothers: Jeff Baker of Barbourville, Ky. Charles Baker and wife Janet of Gray, Ky. Bobby Grubb and wife Carolyn of Barbourville, Ky. Obie Baker and wife Sarah of Dewitt, Ky. Eight grandchildren: Steve Martin, Lorie Miracle, Stephanie Garrett, Tracy Mirlisena, Julie Martin, Kimberly Smith, Eric Smith, Andrew Martin Mrs. Martin also leaves 10 great grandchildren in addition to many other friends and relatives to mourn her passing. Funeral services for Mrs. Martin were conducted on Thursday-June 29, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home
