Mrs. Myrtle Hampton Lamar, 70, of Indian Creek, formerly of Girdler, Ky., the daughter of the late Henderson and Barbara Lee Hampton, was born in Knox County, Ky. on August 27, 1936 and departed this life at her home on May 12, 2007. Myrtle was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church, a Homemaker and a devoted Mother and Grandmother. On September 19, 1957 she was united in marriage Paul Lamar and to this union five children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Phyllis Ann Lamar, two sons, Paul Lamar, Jr., and Peter Lance Lamar. Two grandchildren, April Beth Lawson and Ricky Jessica Gibson. Survivors include, Her Husband Paul Lamar, Indian Creek; two daughters, Mrs. Paula Lynn Gibson and husband Rev. Ricky Gibson, London, Ky. and Ms. Pamela Leslie Lawson, Cannon Ky.; one step daughter, Karen Castell, Benton, Ark., one Sister, Mrs. Cleo Bruner, Girdler, Ky.; and one Brother Mr. Troy Hampton and wife, Edith, Bimble, Ky.; Three Grandchildren, Michael Paul Lawson, Haven Troiana Gibson and Shania Shante Gibson. Myrtle also leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Funeral services were conducted in the Chapel of the Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jimmy Siler and Rev. Ed Wayne Gibson officiating. Interment was in the Hampton Cemetery at Girdler, Ky. Pallbearers were Doug Hampton, Kevin Hampton, Keith Hampton, Rodney Hampton, Larry Bruner, Mark Bruner, Ronnie Kirby, Sr., Ronnie Kirby Jr., Brian Kirby, Mickey Swafford, and Tom Jones. Honorary Pallbearers were Mary Likias, Cheryl Sasser, Shelia Smallwood, Special Nurses from Hospice, Dr. James West, Arthur Smith and all Friends. Hampton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
