Mrs. Jean Hopper Keeton, 90, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away Friday afternoon, May 18, 2007 in the Sun City Center Hospice House in Ruskin, FL. She was the daughter of the late Walter C. Hopper Sr. and Mariam Faulkner Hopper born on September 20, 1916 in Barbourville. Jean retired from Maas Brothers in St. Petersburg, FL where she was a sales associate for many years and was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed shopping and visiting with all her many friends and family. While living in Barbourville, she worked with her parents in their family funeral home and clothing store. After she united in marriage with Harry Walker Keeton on September 7, 1937 in Hazard, they eventually moved to Silver Springs, MD and later with their daughters, Kathy and Elizabeth, moved to St. Petersburg, FL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Harry, on April 18, 1991; and two brothers, Harry G. Hopper Sr. and Joe Winston Hopper. Jean is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Keeton Hough and husband, Henry, of Ocoee, FL and Elizabeth Keeton Lang and husband, Robert, of Temple Terrace, FL; two brothers, Lewis A. Hopper and wife, Elizabeth, of Hazard and Walter C. Hopper Jr. and wife, Jody, of Barbourville; a sister-in-law, Bitty Hopper of Barbourville; five grandchildren, Nichole Ann Karcher of Brooklyn, NY, Dane Keeton Karcher and Nole Lawrence Karcher both of Madera Beach, FL, Henry Tyler Hough and Taylor Jean Hough both of Ocoee, FL; a great grandson, Dane Reef Karcher; among other loved ones and dear friends who mourn her passing. A graveside service will be conducted in the Barbourville Cemetery Thursday, May 24 at 11 A.M. with Rev. Joel Allen officiating.
