Alex was a Farmer. He built a log cabin for his family on Hurricane Creek in Pike County, Kentucky.

His grandchildren, who called him Pa, loved him very much. Alex is remembered as a happy man, full of life. He used to come down the road, thumbs tucked into his overall straps, singing "Happy Family Baking Powder," a commercial on the radio.

He never remarried after the death of his beloved 27 year old wife, Lindy. Alex lived with his daughter Hester Meade Blair until his death on August 8, 1956.  He is buried in the Albert Meade Family Cemetery on Hurricane Creek, Pike County, KY on the property of Charles & Shelby Meade.
